I-Light Marina Bay 2012

I-Light Marina Bay 2012, the second edition of Asia’s first and only sustainable light art festival, Hexogon Solution (Effects and Technology) was appointed by URA to create a 3D mapping projection on the ArtScience Museum.

This installation, titled Garden Of Lights is one of the anchor installations of the festival. This projection covers a total of 30,500 square foot and is recorded to be the biggest 3D mapping projection in Singapore with the use of the latest fleet of Christie HD20,000 lumens J-series projectors, which were recently acquired by Hexogon.

In the process of creating this installation, the team has to overcome multiple challenges in projecting onto a 2 axis curved façade structure of the ArtScience museum. As the museum is located at the rim of the Marina Bay area, this restricts the positioning of the projectors. Therefore, the projector towers have to be placed on very challenging locations, respectively on the floating platform 250 meters away across the Bay, on the Helix Bridge and some, very close to the projected surface which require shot throw lens.

The theme for I Light 2012 is “Nature” and so do expect to see a lot of nature, greeneries, organic shapes and forms infused into our animation. The installation will be running for 3 weeks starting from 9th March to 1st April 2012 and the best viewing area will be the open space in front of the ArtScience Museum entrance and across the entire Helix Bridge.
